About Me
Hi, I'm Laina — the hands, heart, and dirt-covered shoes (cause boots are uncomfortable) behind Luna Bug Gardens and Macrame. I'm a beginner flower gardener, long time macrame artist, and workshop/photography host nestled in the beautiful community of Brigus, Newfoundland.
My Story
There's something deeply grounding about working with your hands — whether it's pressing seeds into soil in early spring or macraming one of a kind pieces that will hang in someone's home or apart of their wedding. For me, both gardening and macrame are my way of expressing the love I have for being creative. Luna Bug was born from that passion: a little corner of the world where handmade and homegrown come together.
The Macrame
Every piece I create is uniquely designed and made by hand (by me) using natural cotton rope sourced right here in Canada. I love working with materials that feel honest — soft, natural, and made to last. When a piece calls for something a little more wild and rooted, I reach for Newfoundland driftwood, gathered from the beautiful and rugged coastlines. No two pieces are ever alike, and that's exactly the point.
The Garden
My flower gardens in Brigus are where so much of the magick begins. I grow and dry flowers (from seed) through the season — from delicate strawflowers to bold echinacea or globe thistles — tending each variety with care so they can be enjoyed long after the summer fades. Dried flowers find their way into wreaths and pressed artwork, bringing a little piece of my Newfoundland garden to your home.
Macrame Workshops & Photography Location
I love sharing what macrame I've learned, and my garden workshops are a chance to slow down, get creative and connect with something real. Whether you're a longtime macramer or a total beginner, there's a place for you here.
The flower gardens here also serve as a stunning backdrop for photography sessions — lush, colourful, and entirely one-of-a-kind, including a magickal wooded path with lights and hanging crystals, a beautiful outdoor spot for your next set of photos.
Thank You
Thank you for being here and for supporting small, handmade, and homegrown. Every macrame order, photography session or workshop booked, and every kind message means the world to me and my family.🌿
